Museum

**Please note — our museum is currently closed due to renovations in the building. We hope to re-open in the spring of 2026.**

Tunnels Park & Museum is located in the heart of Gallitzin, at the corner of Jackson and Convent Streets in the Community Building. There are pictures and many railroad artifacts on display along with a theatre, where you can see a very informative video, “Once Upon a Mountain”, the story of rail transportation and the strategic location of Gallitzin and the tunnels in the expansion of our country, circa 1854 and later. Across the street is Tunnels Park, where you can hear, feel, see, smell and taste the awesome power of the engines as they emerge from the Allegheny Tunnel. It is a perfect location for great pictures. A restored 1942 PRR Caboose is open to the public during museum hours – daily from noon until 4pm, May through October. It is closed major holidays.
